Hello and welcome to The Everyday Sport Scientist!

My name is Francesca, a postgraduate student in sports and exercise psychology with a passion for sports and exercise science.

I believe that lessons learned from cutting edge research in sport can be applied to anyone in everyday life. 

This blog is not designed to be a fitness programme. I am not a personal trainer. Neither am I an expert in everything I write about. I am, however, enthusiastic, keen to engage in research, spark discussion, share ideas and continue learning.

This blog is a place for me to bring ideas together about the current thoughts, ideas and research in sports science. I hope I can share some insights, educate you a bit about the science behind exercise. Along the way hopefully you too will see how sport and exercise science can benefit your life. 

Yes, we’ll investigate the more traditional ideas about exercise and health; what’s the best diet to lose weight? How can I make exercise work in my busy life? Do fad diets and exercise classes really work?

But sport science goes far beyond that. Why is that some people succeed despite the odds? What is mental toughness and how can I improve it? Are you born a winner, or can anyone become a champion?
